    Detailed description:

Translated from Italian, mattone means “brick.” In the 11-13 centuries, brick became primary construction material in the architecture of Northern Italy. It was a highdemand material utilized in construction of numerous public buildings, private homes, cathedrals, churches, and palaces. For examples, the walls, abutments and domes of St. Mark’s Basilica whose construction began in 1063, were built from brick. Only 100 years later they were finished with marble.
