It is surprising how similar elements of infrastructure in Venice can have several different names. Seeing a small area surrounded with buildings, one would call it a square. However, the Venetians have a feel for differences in sizes between free spaces. This is why one can see such abundance of campos and campiellos, but only two piazzettas - a part of St. Mark Square and piazzetta dei Leoncini.
